Bike Paths

Cape Cod Canal
Just 15 minutes southeast of Plymouth on Route 3,
(click here to see map) there are two beautiful paved bike paths, each roughly 7 miles in length) on both sides of the Cape Cod Canal. As you peddle, you can watch the boats passing through the canal (this is the route favored by Tall Ships journeying to or from Boston.)

Forges Fields Recreation Area
88 Jordan Road in the Chiltonville section of Plymouth.
Roughly two miles of paved bike paths are available for inline skaters and bicyclists in this recreational complex that includes a playground, playing fields, and a golf course.

Myles Standish State Forest
The park's main entrance is on Cranberry Road in Carver.
The east entrance is on Long Pond Road in Plymouth.

North Plymouth Rail Trail
Extending between Nelson Street in downtown Plymouth and Cordage Park,
this short (2 mile) bike path is perfect for young families who have little ones just learning how to ride, as well as in-line skaters and walkers. Parking available at corner of Nelson and Water Streets in downtown Plymouth, and Cordage Park on Route 3A in North Plymouth

Roadways and Resources
There are many pleasant bike trips that meander through the rural back roads of Plymouth, past ponds and cranberry bogs and through pine woods. You can plan your own trip - maps of bike trips are available at most bike shops. Or you can contact the following organizations about planned trips or for other information about biking.

The Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition

Appalachian Mountain Club
The Southeastern Mass. Chapter of the AMC sponsors a variety of group bicycle rides near or in Plymouth. The Appalachian Mountain Club is devoted to outdoor activity in the northeastern US.

Narragansett Bay Wheelmen
While based in Rhode Island, the NBW also cover most of southeastern Massachusetts in both rides and membership.
